Finance, People and Governance

The Finance, People, and Governance directorate is responsible for maintaining smooth and effective operations at London Sport.


The Finance team oversees routine operations such as payroll, expense processing, reporting, governance, budgeting, and forecasting, all of which are crucial for maintaining financial stability and supporting overall success.


People form the core of the organisation, which is why the People/HR team is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining talent, while fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.


The Operations team manage and support London Sport's offices, core IT systems and internal organisation wide meetings and comms, as well as supporting London Sport contracts and essential items such as insurance.


Lastly, the Governance team leads the way in ensuring adherence to Sport England’s governance code, in addition to managing policies, GDPR, safeguarding and overseeing legal and ethical compliance.

Impact and Innovation

The Impact and Innovation directorate helps to ensure that our work is led by the best insight and evidence available. This directorate supports London Sport colleagues to embed insight and innovation into their work and uses data and technology to enable and progress our programmes. Additionally, they play an important role in assessing and demonstrating the organisation’s impact, through systematic monitoring and evaluation.


Key aspects of their work include:


  • Having dedicated, detailed insight and data on our places and the people that live within them


  • Ensuring London Sport are experts in our strategy focus areas


  • Being the central hub for Sport and Physical activity data for London


  • Ensuring all London Sport activity is strategically aligned under a clear set of outcomes that is driven by an organisational Theory of Change


  • Connecting and synthesizing learning across place-based and system partner work

Fundraising, Marketing and Communications

The Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team is dedicated to enhancing the visibility, reputation, and financial sustainability of London Sport, this includes:


  • Engaging with policy makers, political leaders and potential funders to influence change and increased investment into the charity and the sector


  • Organising and hosting events for the sports and physical activity sector fostering key partnerships, sharing knowledge and celebrating the achievements of the unsung heroes in this field, through our Active LDN conference and the London Sport Awards


  • Using our website, newsletters and social media channels to display case studies, signpost resources, and provide examples of best practice

Physical Activity and Sport Development

The Physical Activity and Sport Development team collaborate with and support a wide range of stakeholders to achieve our strategic aims within our focus areas of Community Sport, Active Environments, Health and Place. This is actioned by:


• Delivering programmes


• Advocating for the change that will make it easier for Londoners to lead active lives


• Providing subject matter expertise and playing an important role in developing the direction of our work
